When traveling abroad, we always purchase travel insurance and have used it twice.  Once we had tickets to China but I became very ill.  Luckily we had travel insurance so we were able to get our money back from the plane tickets.  Another time Wade had his backpack stolen with his passport and our new GoPro. Because we have had to use travel insurance and it has paid off for us we don't go on a trip without it.
